• Congratulations and sincere gratitude to conductor, Julie Pretzat and members of the Syracuse Vocal Ensemble who, in collaboration with Society for New Music, presented a pair of marvelous concerts on May 16 and 17: “Premieres & Encores | Choral Works by Central New York Composers”.  Both programs began with beautiful performances of Crystal Godfrey LaPoint’s Four Romantic Songs, to the delight of the composer and both enthusiastic audiences. Bravi, Julie and the SVE!
   

• CGL Music Publishing is currently preparing several previously unpublished works – including choral anthems, Wordsworth’s “The Power of Music” (set for SATB choir, piano, and violin solo), and a choral piece composed specifically for performance at commencement/graduation events. All of these titles will be added to our catalog, and available for purchase exclusively here on the CGL Music Publishing website.

• New works in progress include two compositions featuring familiar sacred texts in contemporary, concert music settings. Devotions – a dramatic triptych of songs for medium-high voice and piano – is based on three beloved Christian hymns and Sunday School songs: “Holy, Holy, Holy!”, “A Mighty Fortress is Our God”, and “Jacob’s Ladder”. The composer’s own poetic version of the 23rd Psalm serves as the basis for a fresh, fervent, and deeply introspective choral piece – The Lord is my Shepherd for SATB a cappella voices.
